According to QS Best Student Cities 2016 Ranking, the rank of Montreal in 2015 has moved up, from 8th to 7th, just after Singapore. This city is the home to several of Canada’s top institutions, including McGill University (currently ranked 24th worldwide and 1st in Canada). In addition, Paris is the top city ranked, followed by Melbourne, Tokyo, Sydney and London.
Being a French-speaking city in an English-speaking nation, Montreal has its own unique culture including major international festivals. The most important advantage of Montreal is the large and diverse student population. Due to this, Montreal earns its highest score in the “student mix” category of the Best Student Cities index. The drawback of this city is affordability. However, compare to other top 10 student cities, the level of living cost in Montreal is still lower.
